Nursery

Well, we have everything for the nursery! Derek took an old dresser and painted it.
I found winnie the pooh drawer pulls, here's an example of one of the characters
This dresser matches the bedding we picked out
Some of you may know Derek and I have been househunting. Long story short there is a whole lot of crappy houses out there. We are still looking, though but I am skeptical we will find something in time for baby. Wish us luck though!! We're not sure if the nursery will be set up in our condo or in a house so right now it's all a big pile.

Fun stuff. Here is the latest picture of "belly" or as my sister Jen nicknamed him "Roy"
a lot of people tell me I don't look 61/2 months pregnant. I think they are nuts. I love it though, feeling our baby move inside me is amazing. I still get mesmerized watching my belly rise and fall as he flips around. It's magical. Except when he kicks my bladder, that stings a bit. Oh well the third trimester begins in two weeks, I hear that is when the real fun begins!!

Thanks for coming to my baby shower!!

It started with a dream of rubber duckies and became a lovely afternoon with family and friends.


Here is a picture of everyone (except my sister Shannon) that was at my shower last saturday. It was really wonderful and I appreciate everyone coming!! Derek and I recieved wonderful, generous gifts for the baby. Here a few more pictures...

My cousin Sheri (she flew in from North Carolina, yay!!) and my Aunt SandraMy "city girl" friend Beth who braved the highways (in a van nonetheless) to join the party. It was a difficult journey traveling 70 miles an hour outside the city limits of minneapolis to the suburbs. I greatly appreciate her risking her life for me. Thanks Beth!!

UGH! I want to wear jeans!!!

I am sick of these pants. I haven't been able to wear jeans in over a month because I outgrew mine but didn't fit into maternity pants yet. now I can fit into maternity sizes but I can't find my size anywhere!! I might have to buy a $60 pair at the Gap online. UGH!! Why is the hunt for a decent pair of jeans always the eternal feminine struggle???

Anyway the baby is doing somersaults now and acts as mommy's little alarm clock. I am excited about a baby shower next Saturday that a friend and some family are attending. My cousin is coming in from North Carolina and I can't wait to catch up with her. It's going to be great to see everyone! Hopefully I'll have jeans by then and won't be so crabby.

Introducing our son!

I don't know what else to say, except that the ultrasound lady was SURE it was a boy! Seriously she commented like five times that the baby is FOR SURE A BOY if ya know what I mean...

We do have a name picked out but it is a secret...

New Mum

Here is cute story, Melissa Mom (my mother-in-law) planted a mum from our wedding the day after. She was recently weeding (instead of cleaning her house, shame on her) and came across what she thought was a weed next to the mum from our wedding. She was about to pull it when she realized it was a baby mum that had been sprouted from the mama mum.

It is hard to find, but you can see it on the right hand side. Sheri will probably be able to see it, she's like certified in nature stuff. It should be sprouting flowers this fall as that is what mums do, perhaps it will still be in bloom this November?? So the title of this blog is new mum, get it?? get it?? I am a clever girl.

I dreamt last night that we had the ultrasound and the baby looked healthy but the tech wouldn't tell me the baby's gender!! I was practically chasing her down the street! We are guessing its a boy but only time will tell.

One week to go...

Derek and I went to our friend's house for dinner last friday. Jeremy and Beth got a new dog named Buddy. No that is not a picture of our ultrasound. He is just adorable and I thought I would share him with you. We have our ultrasound in one week (7/7)!!


I am excited and nervous. Mostly excited!! I kinda want a boy and Derek kinda wants a girl so I guess we'll be happy with either one. I think I can feel the baby kicking for real, it is like really big bubbles popping in my abdomen. It happens a lot and feels goofy. Soon the baby will be big enough that I will REALLY know its kicking. Okay, I'll post next week with the big reveal!! thanks for looking at my blog,

16 weeks

I didn't realize how much my belly has grown until I looked at the 13 week picture!! I went to the doctor Thursday and heard the heartbeat. It was so loud for such a tiny thing! Very cool though. I can feel fluttering about at times in my tummy which feels like butterfly wings, that's the baby moving around. Crazy, huh? Derek says he can hear it moving if he puts his head on my tummy. We have an ultrasound on 7/7 so we'll find out if "belly" is a boy or girl. We can't wait to see the baby!
